MORE NON-SENSE ABOUT A NEW (?) INSULATION

Did you ever hear of a chopped staple fiberfill insulation trade named Thermore which is made by an Italian company by the name of Thermore. Being in the business I knew of the company but do not know of any American companies that have ever used their product. After all it is a chopped taple fiberfill just like every other chopped staple fiberfill product I have ever written about. Recently I have seen a continued advertising campaign focused on the outdoor industry for the purpose of getting American companies to use their product. Why now because they claim in their advertising that they have a new (?) fiberfill product that has an incredible capability; it will increase its insulating capacity as the temperature decreases.

The product is advertises as “Thermore Thermal Booster”. When I read about this supposedly remarkable product I called their USA phone number three times and each time I left a message requesting information as to how this product works. I am always interested in a new product that maybe able to allow me to make a better product than I do now. I have never received a return call. I am not surprised.

Here is what they say about their product, I quote; “Thermore Thermal Boost is a sensational breakthrough in insulation technology, as it works in a totally different way: as the weather gets colder, it provides extra warmth.” They further claim, I quote: “Independent test labs prove that Thermore Thermal Boost is over 20% warmer at lower temperatures. It is just like having a “heat pack”: as the temperature decreases, it gradually increases its warmth to more than 20%!” The next quote is the most remarkable of all, I quote; “However, unlike actual heat packs, heating batteries or phase change materials, its effect does not end: thermal Booster maintains its higher warmth for as long as the temperature is lower. And of course, if the temperature increases, it automatically re-tunes to the warmer temps, thus keeping you in the comfort zone.”

All of the information that I am quoting comes directly from their web site. There is no explanation as to how this polyester fiberfill product is able to function in this manner. That is probably why they will not return my calls because they cannot explain how this works. One more time a company is just stating erroneous unverifiable statements about a product that they make knowing full well that it does not matter. Inanimate materials are just that; inanimate. They cannot do things that take physical actions to accomplish, they just exist. This company to the best of my knowledge is a garnetter a company that buys fiber and processes it into fiberfill battings. They may also be chemical company that actually extrudes the fiber, buy I do not know. Regardless it cannot work just like the phase change materials they refer too cannot and do not work.

In the event that you happen to see any jackets with this “miracle insulation” and buy it you now know not to expect it to do what they claim.
