By a quirk I am now making a luxurious ground pad. A new supplier of the densified sent me a roll of this product that is just terrific. so, I made this ground pad with it as the core. as you can see from the photograph it is almost twice as large rolled up as is the standard 72 inch ground pad. it is obviously not made for back packing. so if you are mostly on a cot this is the ground pad for you.
More and more hunters sleep on cots. From my experience, I see them bring blowup pads that cause their backs to get cold and they ultimately wake up and spend the rest of the night trying to get warm. A supplier showed me a very dense padding material that is between 2 and 3 inches thick. I asked for a sample roll and when I received it I put it in the casing of our traditional pad and it is spectacular. I expect that it will successfully perform at 40 below zero assuming the bag you are in is rated for that temperature; certainly that will be a Wiggy’s bag, regardless if you are on a cot or on the ground.
The size is 28" wide x 72" long. When using it on a cot, secure it to the cot with the straps that hold it when it is rolled up. The weight is five pounds. The photos show how much bigger it is than the standard 72 inch ground pad that weighs 3.25 pounds when it is rolled up.
For this luxury, the cost is $130.00 delivered to your door in the lower 48 United States! (Shipping to Alaska & Hawaii or expedited shipping is extra).
