What to Wear Over the Fishnets + New Boots & Clothing!

What to Wear Over the Fishnets & Introducing a New Wiggy's Shirt

For several years I have been asked what to wear over fishnet long underwear and my recommendation has always been any shirt made with a woven fabric regardless if it were natural fiber or synthetic, now I have become knowledgeable of a very supple polyester knit that has excellent vapor permeability. I received some sample yardage and made a long sleeve pullover so I could wear it over the fishnets that I wear most days since our weather has been from single digits at night to about 30 during the day. The comfort is very nice, as a matter of fact the garment is so light in weight you really don’t know you have it on.

This means that the moisture i.e. sweat that the human body produces can not only get away from your skin surface through the fishnets but it will also go through this secondary mesh fabric giving you even more protection from your moisture before it condenses to a liquid which is the danger. When you hear that cotton kills it is the fact that the cotton is trapping the moisture i.e. condensing it in the cotton that is the enemy versus the cotton itself. But the cotton is not the only fabric that will trap the moisture such as wool; silk and rayon do the same thing because they too are natural materials that are porous so they absorb the moisture. The other materials that retain moisture not by absorption but as a direct result of their weave or knit are any synthetic. Keep in mind the yarn that is used to make the fishnets I sell is nylon but it is the openness of the knit that allows the moisture while a vapor to move away from the skin surface. The new fabric I am now working with as a second layer is also porous, not as much as the fishnets but sufficient to perform better than the other second layer. I haven’t slept with the top in a sleeping bag but I am guessing because of how supple it is and silk like in feeling it will be very pleasant to wear to sleep, and of course it will allow your moisture to get away from you.

I will only make tops from this fabric. The initial color choice is white. Shortly I will receive the color chart so I may include other colors as well. The cost is $33.00 the same as the fishnet top. It will also come in the same size range. I expect to have it on the website soon and will be in production during February.

New Lamilite Boots Coming Soon!

If you go to the web site and click on leg and footwear you will find the inventory and sizes that I have left of the Belleville boots. I am replacing them with a better boot also made in the USA with components made in the USA like the Lamilite. The upper is 100 percent top grain cow hide the sole which is sewn on versus molded and glued and of course the Lamilite insulation quality I have always used. The sole is a vibram brand.

The cost now for the Belleville boots is $175.00 and you still get a pair of 13 inch Lamilite socks.

The reason I have ended my relationship with Belleville is because they have chosen not to continue to supply me as sizes are needed which goes against what they told me when we first started doing business. I also believe they looked at me as competition because they use goretex and thinsulte which isn’t even remotely as good as Lamilite.

I am projecting the price point for my new boot will fall between $150.00 and $175.00 per pair and will also include a pair of 13 inch Lamilite socks.

I have been wearing my Lamilite insulated boots (Belleville) with the Lamilite socks since early December when we had our first snowfall and temperature at night into single digits and below 30 during the day. I am also in my office for several hours at a time. I can categorically state that at the end of each day when I take off my boots they are basically dry, my socks are dry and my feet are warm, and there is no ordor. When I have used my heavy wool socks my feet are slightly damp, my socks are very damp and the inside of the boot is also damp. Of course the socks must be washed because they are also stretched out of shape and really can’t be worn a second day. I know most people who go outdoors for a few days at a time hiking or hunting carry several pairs of socks, they may wear one pair twice. With the Lamilite socks you take the one pair and wear it for a week or month and it never changes. I suppose you could wash them in a river and place them in your Wiggy bags when you go to sleep and they will be dry in the morning, if you believe it is necessary to wash them in the first place.

The Lamilite socks will also make any other boot perform better because the moisture from your feet will go through the Lamilite sock as it does through the fishnets and once gone even though it cannot get out of the boots that are lined with goretex or any other film it will not touch your foots skin surface.

Pack Boots; I started making them about 15 years ago, I even have a patent for them but regardless how good they are they did not sell well so after a while I reduced the price and had a flurry of activity but it dies away quickly. I further reduced the price which also created another flurry of activity that also did not last very long. The next step was to offer them at $50.00 when someone bought a sleeping bag. At $50.00 I was losing $35.00 a pair, but sales did increase for a while. At this point I took a look at my inventory and found that after about 13 years my initial investment of 5000 pairs was reduced to 3000 pairs. I asked my accountant if I could write them off and he said certainly but you then can’t sell them, you would have to put them in the land fill. Unacceptable, so I offered them to any customers who spent $200.00 or more free. They became an instant best seller, as it took 5 months to basically get rid of them. I still have about a dozen pair left mostly size 9 if anyone wants them with a purchase of $200.00 or more.

Many have asked if I will have more because virtually every owner of them has found out they are the best pack boots they ever have had. The answer was no. Why because they have warm feet. Why are their feet warm, because of the Sunwalker inserts. I continue to make the Sunwalker inserts so if you want to radically improve any pack boot that you currently own or are thinking about buying a pack boot just buy whatever and take the felt liner out and throw it away and replace it with the Sunwalkers. I originally made the Sunwalkers at the request of the Barrow, Alaska police department because they were going through 6 or 8 felt liners a year, now you can have the Sunwalkers for 6 or 8 pack boots, as they will outlast the pack boots.

Back to the new leather boot; when they appear on the web site there will be a special price for people who order knowing that they will not receive their pair for 6 to 8 weeks when they come out of production.

Have a good weekend and I hope your football team wins.
