Hi Wiggys crew,
The new site looks great!

Just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your work.

From the Antarctic Bag & Mitts, our beautiful white Fossil Ridge Parkas & Bibs, Mukluks, even the booties & other odds & ends…   these have all become my favorite things, because they’re the equipment depend on with full confidence.  Amazing warmth, breathability and comfort, rugged durability, washability, and the quality of your company itself, standing behind your products & even accommodating custom orders; there is just no one like you guys.

You’ve made winter my favorite time of year.  Now when it’s -35, I grab a book, my gear & snowshoes, head out wherever, and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in total comfort.  I’ve used your gear winter camping & adventuring up into canada, climbing up/sliding down snow, ice, rocks & dirt, been blown across Lake Superior on my face in ice squalls and after the initial shock, even enjoyed the experience of getting run over by the freight train whiteout hurricane, completely warm & protected.  Somehow, this stuff shows no wear yet!  I don’t get it, but I love it.

I can’t thank you enough for the excellent equipment and your willingness to do custom work to make everything perfect for your customers.

Sincerely,
Pete Doering

Here are a few pics of places your gear has allowed me  to go...

Mr. Wigutow,

In August of this year I completed my Alaskan caribou hunt that I discussed in my first email back in April, 2014. During the trip, I utilized the Super Light bag that I purchased on your advice. I had the FTRSS with me but I did not need it! I used it as an extra sleeping bag since the Super Light was plenty warm; for short periods I slept with bare feet and was plenty warm. I was able to dry out most of my clothes just by either wearing them in the bag or stuffing them inside while I was in it. My buddies with cheap bags never could dry their clothes and they were miserable. I did not take your ground pad with me since we had an outfitter camp package that included (cheap USGI-type) sleeping pads.

I also wore daily your 9” socks and jacket liner. They worked very well in keeping me warm and dry. The socks were very comfortable during the 40-plus miles I walked while on the hunt. In the attached photo I was wearing the jacket inside out as 'tundra camo.' It worked well in that regard.

Anyways, thank you for the great advice and for the great products.

I think I bought my Ultima Thule back in like 1997 and it's still my go to bag in the winter time here in Colorado. Over New Year's eve I backpacked up Pikes Peak and camped inside Monty's Rock Pile just below Barr Camp. The temp at night was around 5 below zero and I slept toasty warm thanks to your bag. Thanks Jerry.

[Here's a picture of] your awsome waders at work. 3rd season on them and of course they were trashed by the end of last season, but a few patches got us through this season. They sure do make crossing streams with sheep meat on your back a little nicer. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  1. chukka boots

    Hi Jerry,

You hit a HOME RUN with the new Chukka's! As you can tell from my sales history, I believe in Wiggy's. The Fossile Ridge Parka is something I should have bought much sooner (at $750), and now I own one. Of the three different pair of boots, this is the best yet. I may consider a high pair later on, but for now these are just the ticket! The black Wellco are a close second, and the new guys just jumped to the top of the stack.

Thanks for being who you are - crusty and all. Your products are the "Best In The West"! I have learned so much from your newsletters. So glad I got rid of all those other guys from down to Prima Loft - all failed products. Keep on truckin' and being the best.

    Loyal Customer,

    Lee

  2. INCREDIBLE REPORT TESTIMONIAL RECEIVED BY WIGGY'S

I've been so busy, I'm just now getting time to compliment you on your sock liners. I'll briefly set the stage below for my hunting misadventure.

    BRIEF BACKGROUND:
I drew a Wyoming elk tag this year. I have had two prior bouts of frostbite to my hands and feet prior to having any knowledge of your products. I purchased your sleeping bag system (Hunter Ultima Thule + FTRSS) a few years ago after freezing my tail off for the last thirty years with every other brand of sleeping bag. You took my phone call, spoke to me directly, we discussed my bouts with frostbite, and my build (lean basketball player 6'6"), and my hunting routines and locations. BEST DAMNED SLEEPING BAG MONEY CAN BUY! I continue to push myself into the backcountry at higher and colder elevations during hunting season. I have not had one cold night in this bag. I have looked over at several different hunting camp members and I have watched them shiver, chatter, and remain restless through the nights. NOT ME! And I tell them: "Call WIggy, stop freezing your butt off."

    SOCK LINERS
I ordered your sock liners the first time this year for this special elk hunt. I wish I had ordered them years ago. I am writing to tell you that I destroyed one pair of boots due to site conditions (sole part separated from body, and yep, you can't resole them) (brand to remain shamefully nameless), melted the right boot of another pair with my base camp wall tent stove -- trying to dry them in a hurry due to site conditions. This left me with one left boot for eight more days of the elk hunt and a pair of camp tennis shoes. You and I both know there are no stores around on the mountain, so you improvise.

I wore your 13" sock liners and a tennis shoe on my right foot for the remainder of the hunt. Yes, I looked like a mountain idiot, but the elk couldn't tell. Each day I had to hike / wade up a stream (yes I walked up the stream as the gorge was too steep to stay on dry land), to get onto the trophy elk I was after. Of course my tennis shoe was soaked, of course your sock liners were soaked, and of course my foot was soaked. And yes, there was snow on the ground as well. But as you probably already know, my feet never got cold.

Here I was, one boot and one tennis shoe marching through snow, rocks, and rivers. Everybody at base camp thought I should give up and remain at base camp. My guide almost grounded me as well. But your sock liners came through. Every single time I stopped hiking I would look down at my right foot and see a steam cloud coming from that tennis shoe. My hunting guide was floored. Plus, your liners dried out in no time. I could hunt the morning and evenings because the liners dried so fast.

I told my hunting guide that if any of his future clients complain about hunting conditions, to remind them of the tall skinny guy who hiked up and down a stream everyday with one boot and one tennis shoe and a pair of Wiggy's sock liners. No whiners!

    NEXT ORDER:
WIggy's boots and more sock liners!

Thanks for keeping it real with real products that work really well. I'll trade you my hard earned dollars for your exceptional outdoor gear every time. I have one word for those so called brand names: FAIL!!!

This is my own personal endorsement of Wiggy's sleeping bags and sock liners. I was not paid to offer this endorsement. I'm a regular, hard working guy who demands top quality performance gear to support my passion for the outdoors. I prefer to only buy things one time because they work and because they last. Wiggy's gear works! WIggy's gear lasts. But best of all, if it doesn't work or doesn't last, I know who to call, and he answers the phone and listens to his customers.

    Thanks again,

    J.T. Green

  3. A Wiggys Bag Kept me warm and safe again!

This seems like its becoming the new normal that when I go camping and sleep in the Allegheny mountains the weahter changes overnight on a dime. I am using a top of the line Jungle hammock tent sinceI like being off the gound. It has a mesh canopy cover and also a zip in weather shield and tarp.

The weather at night the last two of three times I have gone was warm and in the fifties and clear so i just had the mesh over me. I place a mattress pad underneath me (yes it slides a little but works ok) the hammock is four season because of pockets beneath supposed to be ok to 32 without a pad but I like to be warm.

A few years ago i had a similar trip and to save space bought a high rated bargain 20 degree down bag on sale to take instead of my wiggys 20 degree bag. It was supposed to be dry and warm. Well overnight the temps dropped 30 degrees and damp fog and dew rolled in about a degree above freezing. I was fully buttoned down in a four season hammok with a pad and a 20 degree down bag with fleece on and I was near hypothermic when i awoke. The cold damp conditions pentrated my tent and the bag and kept my condesation from leaving.

Thankfully I was a few miles from my car and hiked out another night i would have been an ice cube.

Fast forward I now always take my Wiggys bag. I have several hte go to is my 20 degree bag. I just returned from two mountain trips and both had a simialr cold and fog front come in overnight and I just had my mesh deployed. I was awoken both times by a morning peep and opened my eyes to foggy wetness and water dripping off my mesh canopy right on the Wiggy bag! I could have drank from the puddles. Inside I was warm, dry, toasy and slpet like a baby. Both times what a difference! I worked for an outdoor cahin for five years in the early nineties and have tried or owned all the gear. I always grab my Wiggy's bag and this hammock tent.

Another revelation has been Wiggy's fishnet long johns. Try hiking nine miles in in 35 degree weather in the mountains and not be wet then stop and get hypothermic. I was always adding a layer taking one off and still when i stopped got chilled the moisture was on my skin. Well hiking with Wiggy's fishnet longjohns and a fleece and non waterproof outer shell i could see the moisture literally coming out and turning into vapor when I stopped. It was the coolest yet warmest thing and I was dry and warm.

My wife laughs at me in the longjohns and rolls her eyes when i get well now Eight wiggy's bags (2/35, 2/20, 1 zero, a 45 degree quilted, one for my son, and now a new hammock bag on order for my regualr hammock.. But I always have a wiggys
bag for the situation and one for a freind in need or my wife. They dont wear out and most importantly they keep me safe and warm and I sleep like a baby in the woods when its cold and damp and foggy.

I can say i have tried every pair of long underwear out there I could afford to stay warm and for casual use when you are not hiking in the woods with apack they are ok in low intensity use. But start generating moisture and your in a world of hurt when you stop if its wet and damp and chilly.

Thanks Wiggy for affordable American Made products that work and keep me safe and warm and allow me to sleep in the woods. Two high end dowm bags would have cost me as much as all my wiggys bags and I could not wash them after every trip or keep them compressed in storage. What more can i say if you want to keep warm and dry and not suffer if its cold and wet buy a Wiggys bag and their fishnet long johns.

  4. Made a wrong turn...

My wife and I recently moved back to Grand Junction to enjoy our "Golden Years" and are beginning to get re-equipped to once again enjoy the great outdoors. We made a wrong turn today and ended up in Wiggys parking lot. We have been in the market for some new sleeping bags and wandered in to Wiggys showroom and ended up meeting "Wiggy" and purchased 2 new sleeping bags. We haven't had the opportunity to use them yet, but were extremely impressed with Wiggy, the history of his company and the quality of his product. I'm sure we'll be 100% satisfied and have no doubt we'll purchase more products from Wiggys.

  5. Great customer service

I purchased one of your sleeping bags last week and had difficulty putting the bag in the stiff sack. (took me about 10 minutes) I called this morning with my story and he asked what size stuff sack I had and which sleeping bag I had purchased, I told him XL. He immediately said you should have a 2XL. Before I could ask if I should send the other one back, he stated I'll send you the correct size and you keep the other. I made another order the same day. I'm sure I'll buy more.
    Thank you,
    Rodd Szmania

  6. Hunter Ultralight and Nautilus

I ordered a 20 degree Hunter and a Nautilus (40 degree) on Jerry's advice to use in a small 4x4 Campervan camping in all weather with my wife and in future for boat camping in New England. Jerry advised to get the two different weight bags, zip them together and put the 40 on too in warmer weather and flip it over in cold weather. It works very well.

When I first unpacked them I was a little dubious because my only bags before were all down, light and very compact whereas these are pretty bulky and heavier. However, at 62 years old ultralight backpacking is not in my future although lots of camping and camp cruising I hope is, so small and light is not important to me but rugged and being warm even when wet absolutely is. As soon as I started using the bags several unusual quality standouts were obvious:
    1. The zippers are massively built and will withstand rugged use, including my fat fingers yanking on them the first time I zipped the bags together.
    2. The baffles along the zipper line are thick and keep out any drafts better than any bag I have ever used. They are so thick they cushion your knees if you sleep one knee up like I do.
    3. The stuff sacks are built tough and well designed to make stuffing and compression easy. You can cinch these bags down very tight without fear of breaking the 4 nylon webbing straps that wrap all around the bag (not just sewed on in a few places)
    4. The two different thickness bags zip together very easily and the heavy zipper with tags and loops on both sides makes them easy to operate once you get the hang of the initial join
    5. One night the temperature dropped unexpectedly from 60 to 40. We had the bags cool side up but did not notice the temp until the next morning - these bags are warm!
    6. I sweat in most sleeping bags - in these, it does not matter because they appear to let the vapors pass through so you never feel clammy or wet.
    7. We traveled and slept in these bags for 7 weeks throughout Atlantic Canada, with two small dogs my wife always lets sneak onto our bed at night, yet the bags did not evidence any odor - never seen anything like that. And the fact that you can throw them into a standard washer and dryer after a trip instead of dry cleaning them? Awesome.
    7. The length and width - I am 6'2" and sleep sprawling best. No other bags ever were long enough to cover my head or wide enough to allow full movement - these do. My 5'4" wife (never been camping before now) is so lost in them that cold never touches her and these bags are so well padded and comfortable she is wondering what the big deal is about "rugged camping" and figures men just exaggerate discomfort, as usual. (Men who want to encourage your mates to camp with you, buy Wiggy's bags ).
Thank you Jerry. I will never buy bags anywhere else. Now I am lusting after a pair of your Lamilite boots I really do not need but am impressed by lamilite with my sweaty feet!

    Regards, Chris

  7. Alaska Hunt

Purchased waders from Wiggy's for our hunt. The nylon waders worked out really well. My son and I waded through muskeg swamps up to our mid thighs and rather than take them off when we hit brush we decided to hike through it. Did a 12 miles hike like that and waders did not snag or tear. Well worth the cost, light weight and compress small for packing.

  8. Warm and comfortable on an unexpected cold night

    Hello,

I have just placed an order for my sixth Wiggy's Sleeping bag. I am not replacing any they do not wear out. Here is why. I worked for five years in the 90's for a major outdoor chain. I backpack and over the last several years have gravitated to using a top name four season hammock tent. I have recently backpacked in and used a name brand top value 20 degree down bag. The weather supposed to be dry and in the 40s! It became foggy damp and got down to 34 degrees. I woke up several times even though in a four seasonhammock, with a mattress pad and long underwear. The damp conditions seemed to permeate the bag and my condensation stayed in the down reducing its loft and warmth. This was an overnight. Longer with no sun to dry the bag I would have suffered.

Fast forward to last weekend. I was in my hammock tent clear weather and I took my 20 degree wiggys bag! I just had the mesh over me did not deploy the weather shield or tarp. It got down to about fifty and I was not too hot nor to cold the combination of lamilite and the right denier nylon let my condensation escape. The next night a cold front came through the rush of wind woke me up.

Fog came in and the temperature dropped to the mid 30's with fog and dew. I was warm, dry and comfortable in my bag. The dew and fog settled as a fine mist covering my wiggys bag non waterproof nylon shell. I was dry the water did not penetrate the lamilite. Even more amazing I was not condensing inside the bag.

It would have been more dangerous to get up deploy my weather shield and temp and get myself wet then just stay in my wiggys bag warm and comfortable so I went back to a sound comfortable sleep awaking about eight after the fog burned off to a cool crisp morning. I could have drank the dew off the bag. I was comfortable until I got out of the bag the brisk temperature and quick change hurt my hands and I packed up and headed home. But I was comfortable and toast and safe but not too hot in two different nights in my Wiggys bag. A down bag would not have meant the same I had the proof.

I am ordering a Wiggys Urban Grey 20 degree wide short bag with a left zip because my one complaint is I got a regular short right zip through the wiggys distributor several years ago. My tent entrance and right hand prefer a left zip and my aging frame a wide fit. I would rather be camping then home and my wiggys bag means I am comfortable when I go. It's not like I can tell my wife I am replacing a bag. The Wiggys never wear out. And after a trip you can wash them.

I have near ruined other bags washing a few times. And that 200 bag bargain is a ground cloth after a few seasons use. I got the urban grey with a pillow and stuff sack for 145.00. It will go to my kids. Made in America for ratherbecamping!

I have a 35 degree bag a mouse tried to destroy a 35 Air Force Velcro, now 2/ twentys, and a zero! Plus a 45 degree quilted and one for my kid. I use them all!

But my favorite for fall my 20! I hope I get my new one soon. It's getting chilly out there!

Thanks again for a comfortable safe made in America night of sleep!

  9. Great product - 25 yrs - Super Light Wiggy's Sleeping Bag

I've used my Wiggy's Super Light Mummy Style Sleeping Bag for 25 years. I am a professional hunter and guide. My Wiggy's bag is used hard every year and has exceeded all my expectations. I also use Wiggy's Poncho Liner and have found it to also be a superb product.

I am purchasing a new Wiggy's Sleeping Bag today for a high mountain hunt this fall. I recommend Wiggy's products to all my clients because of their durability, great performance, and ease of care.

    Thanks, Wiggy!

  10. warm and toasty

    Greeting Wiggy's!

I’m a very satisfied Wiggy's customer, I have a couple of your excellent sleeping bags, I sleep under your comforter ( not in the summer!) every night, I use your Sunwalker Lamliite sox in my mukluks, and
my Antarctic Parka is the finest warmest parka I have ever owned. The coldest temperatures and wind-chill that Minnesota winters bring on and I’m toasty warm.

I can’t say enough good things about your company. I’ve been an avid outdoors person my entire life, winter camping in the BWCA since the 1970’s, and all the stuff I had over the years
I wish I had your Lamilite stuff back then. Well anyways to get to the point…

I want to order a set of fish net underwear, and I am not sure exactly what size to order. Could you please send me some detailed size info on the fishnets?

    Your response is greatly appreciated.

    kind regards,

    Kurt

I gave him the size to order based upon height and weight.
