Would you like to send Wiggy photos of your own experiences?
Send Us an eMailHi Wiggys crew,
The new site looks great!
Just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your work.
From the Antarctic Bag & Mitts, our beautiful white Fossil Ridge Parkas & Bibs, Mukluks, even the booties & other odds & ends… these have all become my favorite things, because they’re the equipment depend on with full confidence. Amazing warmth, breathability and comfort, rugged durability, washability, and the quality of your company itself, standing behind your products & even accommodating custom orders; there is just no one like you guys.
You’ve made winter my favorite time of year. Now when it’s -35, I grab a book, my gear & snowshoes, head out wherever, and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in total comfort. I’ve used your gear winter camping & adventuring up into canada, climbing up/sliding down snow, ice, rocks & dirt, been blown across Lake Superior on my face in ice squalls and after the initial shock, even enjoyed the experience of getting run over by the freight train whiteout hurricane, completely warm & protected. Somehow, this stuff shows no wear yet! I don’t get it, but I love it.
I can’t thank you enough for the excellent equipment and your willingness to do custom work to make everything perfect for your customers.
Sincerely,
Pete Doering
Here are a few pics of places your gear has allowed me to go...
Mr. Wigutow,
In August of this year I completed my Alaskan caribou hunt that I discussed in my first email back in April, 2014. During the trip, I utilized the Super Light bag that I purchased on your advice. I had the FTRSS with me but I did not need it! I used it as an extra sleeping bag since the Super Light was plenty warm; for short periods I slept with bare feet and was plenty warm. I was able to dry out most of my clothes just by either wearing them in the bag or stuffing them inside while I was in it. My buddies with cheap bags never could dry their clothes and they were miserable. I did not take your ground pad with me since we had an outfitter camp package that included (cheap USGI-type) sleeping pads.
I also wore daily your 9” socks and jacket liner. They worked very well in keeping me warm and dry. The socks were very comfortable during the 40-plus miles I walked while on the hunt. In the attached photo I was wearing the jacket inside out as 'tundra camo.' It worked well in that regard.
Anyways, thank you for the great advice and for the great products.

I think I bought my Ultima Thule back in like 1997 and it's still my go to bag in the winter time here in Colorado. Over New Year's eve I backpacked up Pikes Peak and camped inside Monty's Rock Pile just below Barr Camp. The temp at night was around 5 below zero and I slept toasty warm thanks to your bag. Thanks Jerry.

[Here's a picture of] your awsome waders at work. 3rd season on them and of course they were trashed by the end of last season, but a few patches got us through this season. They sure do make crossing streams with sheep meat on your back a little nicer. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I was a camp director for the BSA on Huntington Lake at Camp Oljato for 10 years and you wear a lot of hats in such a job.. When the weather gets ugly the zippers get hung up in the draft guard as one goes for cover. All employees carry neddle nose pliers to solve the problem. In ten years of camping never at any time did a WIGGY'S zipper jam, this made in America product is outstanding.

To the Greatest Sleeping Bag Manufacturer in the World,
You may remember me. I was introduced to Wiggy through Mark Pacholic when him and I were in the Marines together (by the way, he says hello).
I can not get over (for nearly 20 years now) how wonderful your sleeping bag is (I still use it, daily).
Best Regards,
– John Mulkern
Jerry-
Met you and your crew a couple of years ago on a visit out to Colorado-
My son, Matt, just summited Kilimanjaro for the second time - His wife, Jessica, the first time -They made it to the top
- I gave them a pair of 0 degree bags as a gift for their climb that zipped together - as you can see despite being wet in miserable conditions- your bags kept them warm -
Thank you for helping keep my two children safe on their travels

To all the workers @ Wiggys,
First of all, thank you very much for creating the bombproof sleeping bag!
I've taken this baby everywhere, from the beach in Mexico to the Grand
Canyon, & never failed me once. I've used & abused your gear beyond your
recommendation since '88, but finally gave out after 3 major surgeries.
Second, it's the most comfortable bag ever owned. It puts me to sleep like a
baby in the crib. Maybe the smell helped also.. LOL.
But anyway thanks again for creating the masterpiece.
Sincerely,
– Kei
Hi Jerry,
Received my bag(s) yesterday and briefly tried it out...roasted me out in no time. Looks like I am going to love this system...thanks for getting it to me so quickly. I will spread the word; Wiggy's makes a great product and they are a joy to deal with. Thanks again,
– Jim
Wiggy,
I have now been using one of your bags for over a year. Every camping trip I go on I tell people about your bags. Ever since my first camping trip on the continental divide in Colorado I knew I would never switch bags. That night I was completely soaked from wet snow and then it snowed an additional 2 ft while I slept in a hammock at around 10000 ft. I put my wet boots in the bottom of the bag before I went to sleep. I was warm and dry when I woke up and my leather boots were too!
This last camping trip was in the sky islands in south east Arizona. It was very warm during the four days of hiking and very cool at night. Everyone but me was complaining about going back with a smelly bag. I told them I just wash mine!

Jerry:
Just a note to let you know how happy Spencer is with the sleeping bag system you “built” for him. He say the other guys in his unit have bags that are clearly inferior, and they are heavier than his, to boot. His mother is in North Carolina now. He is scheduled to depart soon for Afghanistan.
Anyway, he has been using the sleeping bag for several months in the field and he says he absolutely loves it. He’s always warm and dry when the other guys are wet and cold. He says it’s hard to believe how much better his sleeping bag system is, compared to the government issued junk.
Thanks again for your help. It is such a mystery to me why our soldiers are sent to war with inferior gear.

Jerry,
Got my order and just wanted to say thanks. I've had many sleeping bags over the years, but yours is by far the best made product I've ever owned. This coming month I'm teaching in 3 wilderness survival courses and will be using your bag to stay toasty. Not only are your products great but your customer service is top notch.
Thanks again for such great service

Jerry,
After last winters nasty -15deg weather, and my glowing (gloating?) praise of my then new FTRSS, two of my regular camping buddies have acquired Ultralight FTRSS's of their own, another buddy now has a Superlight, and even my own Dad got a Superlight Hunter. You may remember in fact, as my Dad and I purchased all these bags at once over this past Labor Day in your Grand Junction store.
It wasn't nearly as cold here this year, but everyone is drinking the Wiggy's Kool Aid now, and happily. Last night could have been a commercial for you, three FTRSS's, a Superlight, and another guy showed up with an Ultima Thule. We were all way 'over-bagged' but we were also all happy and warm.
I've since purchased a Nautilus from you, and I have slept in it nearly every night since I got it (a little over two months) and I love it. It makes a great blanket too. I also have an extra Overbag now as well, just in case. And in my quest to make all of it easier to pack, I also have two of your lateral compression stuff sacks, which I am very pleased with.
Lastly, I recently bought a Northface Tri-Climate jacket. I was very pleased that my Lamilte jacket liner I purchased from you zipped right into the Northface shell, to make one heck of a warm winter coat, much warmer than with the Northface fleece liner.
Keep making this stuff, we the Wiggy's Faithful will keep convincing the non-believers that your gear is as good as it gets.
– Andrew
Hey this email is overdue.
A couple months ago, I was on a trip and forgot my bivy sack. I camped along the Appalachian Trail and the shelter was full, so I just retreated along the trail and camped out without protection. It was cool because I got to see synchronous fireflies for the first time. (You might need to look them up.) Then it rained. Kinda steady, not just a drizzle, but I stayed warm. I bought a longer bag than I am tall, so I can just get completely inside and the bag never soaked through. Awesome!
I last week hiked the Colorado Trail. You know it. My bag is ten years old, but still keeps me warm camping outside without a tent during a frost. For several nights in a row the bag got wet (ten year old bivy sack doesn't work as well as ten year old sleeping bag), and I was unable to dry it out. Was still warm. It was so wet that when I finally hung it up to dry, it was dripping wet, but never failed to give me a good night's sleep.
I'm happy to have slept it in all 24 nights of my CT hike, and for my upcoming Utah backcountry trip and for three weeks at Burning Man this year.
Thanks again.
