Hi Wiggys crew,
The new site looks great!

Just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your work.

From the Antarctic Bag & Mitts, our beautiful white Fossil Ridge Parkas & Bibs, Mukluks, even the booties & other odds & ends…   these have all become my favorite things, because they’re the equipment depend on with full confidence.  Amazing warmth, breathability and comfort, rugged durability, washability, and the quality of your company itself, standing behind your products & even accommodating custom orders; there is just no one like you guys.

You’ve made winter my favorite time of year.  Now when it’s -35, I grab a book, my gear & snowshoes, head out wherever, and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in total comfort.  I’ve used your gear winter camping & adventuring up into canada, climbing up/sliding down snow, ice, rocks & dirt, been blown across Lake Superior on my face in ice squalls and after the initial shock, even enjoyed the experience of getting run over by the freight train whiteout hurricane, completely warm & protected.  Somehow, this stuff shows no wear yet!  I don’t get it, but I love it.

I can’t thank you enough for the excellent equipment and your willingness to do custom work to make everything perfect for your customers.

Sincerely,
Pete Doering

Here are a few pics of places your gear has allowed me  to go...

Mr. Wigutow,

In August of this year I completed my Alaskan caribou hunt that I discussed in my first email back in April, 2014. During the trip, I utilized the Super Light bag that I purchased on your advice. I had the FTRSS with me but I did not need it! I used it as an extra sleeping bag since the Super Light was plenty warm; for short periods I slept with bare feet and was plenty warm. I was able to dry out most of my clothes just by either wearing them in the bag or stuffing them inside while I was in it. My buddies with cheap bags never could dry their clothes and they were miserable. I did not take your ground pad with me since we had an outfitter camp package that included (cheap USGI-type) sleeping pads.

I also wore daily your 9” socks and jacket liner. They worked very well in keeping me warm and dry. The socks were very comfortable during the 40-plus miles I walked while on the hunt. In the attached photo I was wearing the jacket inside out as 'tundra camo.' It worked well in that regard.

Anyways, thank you for the great advice and for the great products.

Posing with caribou

I think I bought my Ultima Thule back in like 1997 and it's still my go to bag in the winter time here in Colorado. Over New Year's eve I backpacked up Pikes Peak and camped inside Monty's Rock Pile just below Barr Camp. The temp at night was around 5 below zero and I slept toasty warm thanks to your bag. Thanks Jerry.

[Here's a picture of] your awsome waders at work. 3rd season on them and of course they were trashed by the end of last season, but a few patches got us through this season. They sure do make crossing streams with sheep meat on your back a little nicer. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  1. response to christmas present article

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you thank you. On the 26th of December I travelled back from Utah to Clovis New Mexico, arriving just in time for the big Blizzard. About an hour after arriving home the power went out. We did not get power back until 4:00 PM Sunday, as the blizzard raged on with temps dropping dangerously low. Because of our Antarctic Hunter bags, we stayed warm and cozy through the night and used them the next day to stay warm until power was restored. Now I know that we could have piled tons of blankets on and survived, but I don't believe I have ever slept warmer or more cozy than I did the night of the blizzard because of my Wiggys. Thank you for providing such a top quality product for such a good price. I have bought 6 Antarctic Hunters for myself, friends and family and I regard them as very important survival items. I'll never buy any other make of sleeping bag and felt you should know how grateful we are for ours.
    Thanks You, Monty Mangum

P.S. Along with all of those sleeping bags, I have also purchased the pack boots for everyone. My son-in-law, in Lubbock Texas spent the day pulling people out of drifts and his feet were freezing until he remembered the Wiggys Packs that I bought him. He called to tell me they were the best boots he has ever worn and his feet were as warm and toasty as they could be. This prompted my wife and I to put ours on and venture out to shovel some snow. I concur.....warm and comfortable. I was at your shop the week after Labor day to pick up my son-in-law's sleeping bag and pack boots, I also bought a sweater and parka. You didn't have any boots his size, so your workers quickly put a pair together for him while we waited. I know he is very grateful for them now. Your products are simply amazing....can't say enough good about them!!!!

  2. Excelent products

I have worked out doors all my life. Rockl Springs, Wyoming for 15 years and living in Farson, Wyoming for about five years where it gets -45 at times. My truck brand new would barely move because of the cold oil in the transmission one morning. Anyway I have never had a pair of boots that totally kept out the cold and also wicked away the sweat from inside the boot. I was out in the cold yesterday in the teens, temperature wise, all day, I am 64 now and staying warm is critical. I came in at 6:30 My feet all day felt as though I was walking around in the home with just my socks on. when I took off the boots there was a little moisture inside showing that I did sweat but the moisture was outside of the wiggi sock, my feet were perfectly dry. Wow, how wonderful. I can still go outside now and stay warm and yes I do have his arctic sleeping bag and slept in it at 11 degrees and loved it.

  3. love my wiggys

i can’t remember when i purchased my Antarctic bag (and 3 pair of booties), but i’m pretty sure it’s been at least 8 years or more.

i use it many times every winter and stay toasty warm. the first time i used it, i went snow camping. i didn’t believe the rating on the bag, so i put a hot water bottle in my bag thinking my bag wouldn’t be quiet warm enough for my liking. BIG MISTAKE! lol i was so dang hot, i threw it out of the bag. the next day when i woke up, i woke up to about 6 friends i was camping with, who were colder than cold all night. i was the only one who was toasty warm.

the night before i was telling them about my bag and i got a number of doubters, but when i told them i had to open my bag a few times during the night because i was getting too hot, they were totally jealous. lol

i recently was talking to my adult son about how much i like my Wiggy’s bag, and a few weeks ago he bought the Ultima Thule, he absolutely loves it!

i was also talking to my sister and her adult daughter about your products, and the daughter (my niece) recently purchased from you also. now my sister said she and her husband will be buying 2 winter bags from you soon.

after all these years, i’ve never had a single issue with my bag (and i’ve been pretty rough with it at times). i just wash and dry it as the directions tel you to, and its all new again.

anyway, just thought i’d let you know how great your products are.

    love my Wiggy :-)

    forrest

  4. Must experience to believe!

You can get wet and seriously cold in the Wyoming mountains. Placed an order (including a custom-sized item) and one week later it arrived at my door. Better quality and product performance than I could have imagined, quick and precise customer service - all at a fair price. If you're serious about cold weather gear, I don't believe you can do better than Wiggy's - and I don't know where you could go to do as well.

  5. Wiggy's The Best Gear Anywhere!

One of my son's lives in Vermont and hikes and canoe's there. He has one of your sleeping bags as do I.

He was hiking in the mountains of New York State. Walked down to the lake, slipped and fell in. He went to sleep in your sleeping bag, fully dressed and went to sleep. He woke up the next morning DRY! He was amazed! I was not. It's a Wiggy's sleeping bag!

  6. Winter Cycling

I have been adapting the various footwear for winter bike riding. I converted sunwalkers to rear entry and hole in sole to clip into pedals. Recently used the mukluks over my winter riding boots in temps down to -13F. And have used the overboots several times. All I can say is WOW! My feet sweat a lot therefore socks get wet and my feet freeze. With either of the overboots/mukluks/sunwalkers my feet actually stay dry and toasty. Use the lamilite socks inside winter cycling boots with decent results in high 20 degree days. Anything below 10F requires an overboot. During a 25 mile bike race few years ago I started with cycling boots in single digit temps. Of course my socks got wet with sweat and toes became darn cold in short order. At mile 11 I donned the overboots and a few miles later toes were nice and warm. I have also used the lamilite insulated leather boots in 20 degree temps with good success. Maybe you need to branch out into the winter cycling market. Would love to have a pair of lamilite L6 pogies.

  7. great sleeping bag

    Mr. Wigutow,
I want to thank you for my recent order from your company. It was a pleasure to talk to you on the phone when I placed my order. And much to my surprise, my sleeping bag and booties came even quicker than I imagined! The whole process of ordering from you and receiving my products was smooth and pleasant.
I used my new sleeping bag this weekend during a 4 day wilderness survival course taught in Virginia. I have very poor cold tolerance; I'm usually shivering in my sleeping bag with my husband next to me sleeping on top of his in shorts! I was even considering cancelling my trip as some of the nights were going to be in the 30s and raining while in improvised shelters in the woods. Fortunately, my sleeping bag performed better than I dared hope! I was so comfortable and dry each night, even with temperatures in the 30s and essentially sleeping without a shelter one night (my improvised shelter skills are still in the novice stage. ;) I am so grateful that I was able to be comfortable and relax at night, and this made all the difference in being able to maximize my experience during the day. (And I should just mention that given the price I think the bag was a great value.)
Thank you again for all your working in getting my bag to me in ample time and for allowing me to have warm, dry, comfortable nights outside!
    Best wishes,
    Janna
P.S. As promised, I did mention you and your product to Reggie Bennett, the instructor and owner of the Mountain Shepherd Wilderness Survival School (which, incidentally, I would also highly recommend!)

  8. The Indispensable Cagoule

After three hunting trips to Alaska (Dall Sheep, Grizzly and Kodiak Brown Bear), I can tell you that the Cagoule should be included in everyone's pack gear. It not only functions flawlessly in rainy situations as designed, but is also a terrific barrier in windy situations. With the baggy design, it quickly and easily slips on top of your outer layer, with the added benefit of warmth through the trapped air underneath. It's also a perfect vapor barrier to sit or lay on when the ground is wet, and we've used it to wrap game meat prior to packing out. The perfect multi-function tool! I own two of them!

  9. Over-Exceeding Expectations

Just wanted to let you know that, as usual, your products over exceeded my expectations. I wore a pair of Redington mukluks to loved them but wanted a pack boot. So I ordered a pair and decided break them in on the Beargrease trail. Unbelievably warm and comfy for the whole week.

  10. Lamilite Socks

I normally wear a liner sock and then a heavy woolen sock over the top at this time of year through to the end of spring time. You see, I am a diabetic and do to the lack of proper circulation my feet are extremely sensitive and feel very cold.
One day, recently, I personally spoke to the owner of Wiggys and listened to him talk up a storm about "lamilite". Well, I figured I would give his product a shot. LET ME TELL YOU..... I AM VERY GLAD I DID!!! I only put his socks on over my bare feet, attach the velcro on top and my feet are toasty warm. THANKS WIGGYS!!!
