A NEW INSULATION? B/S
Imbotex launches lightest ever insulation
09/12/2025
Reprinted from SPORTING GOODS BUSINESS
Imbotex’s new Ultra thermal insulation is said to weigh a mere 15 grammes per square meter. This achievement is due to a new technology that evenly disperses the fibres on a very thin layer and a thermobonding process that creates a stable material that will resist tearing and holes, the company said.
Ultra padding can be used alone, for mid-season jackets, or combined with a fine layer of aerogel to offer higher thermal insulation. Imbotex has recently introduced aerogel-based insulations in its HeatLock Aero range. These the company said are ideal for extreme sports or for luxury brands.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the field of insulation this company is “a newcomer” or just a shyster. I say shyster because they have no knowledge if what they have created has any ability to perform as an insulation, period. They may have learned how to spread the fiber more evenly, which is difficult when you use such a small amount. Of course, some of the 15 grammes per square meter are the fibers that that will liquefy to hold the non-liquefying fibers together. That is how thermobonding is done. So, you now have less fiber to act as insulation. This material if layered in a garment will have little or no value as an insulation. Shyster product.
Then you learn why they are trying to establish themselves in the field of insulation. They are offering an aerogel product that is equally poor as an insulation.
Imbotex is a European company, and the European manufacturers have little or no knowledge of insulation so if a shyster comes along, they are easy prey.

NOW FOR AN TESTIMONIAL OR 2
Jerry,
I just received my ducksback sweater.
Here are my initial impressions:
I love it!
The fitness is perfect, the quality is superb, and the warmth is amazing.
It is pouring rain here so I did what I would never do with any other “puffy” I have ever owned…. I took a mile walk with no other outer shell over it.
I couldn’t wipe the stupid grin off my face the entire time as this garment laughed at the torrential rain. I couldn’t believe it.
When I returned, my boots and socks were soaked through, my pants were wet through - I could wring out all my clothes from the hips down.
My sweater wasn’t even wet. There was only a little bit of sign of dampness on the shoulders, but the insulation wasn’t wet and I was dry and toasty inside.
I was perfectly comfortable - not sweaty, not clammy, just warm and happy.
Anyway, I intend to take this jacket everywhere with me. I am so very impressed.
Thank you for making such a wonderful jacket that solves a major problem with winter in the PNW and will make my life better.
Sincerely,
Greg

I have chronically cold feet. I wear my Lamilite socks to bed every night in the winter. It is like having heaters on your feet. Thanks Jerry
I have sold my booty’s, and SUNWALKER insert to some for the same reason.
A comforter testimonial
My Ultima Thule sleeping bag allowed me to experience many backwoods winter trips in pure comfort and warmth. There is nothing quite like being surrounded by a Wiggy’s bag when it’s far below zero. It was a no brainer for me to get the comforter well over 10 years ago. I love this thing. It has a nice weight, and it produces a heat that’s neither clammy nor too hot. It’s just perfect. I am so glad to see Wiggys products still being offered.

Kevin thank you for your commentary of both products.
