cooler bags

COOLERS

During the past year coolers have become a popular item for campers to have. Most of the coolers are hard sided models because so many people are car camping these days so they have plenty of room to transport them. They can also plug into auxiliary outlets so the cooling mechanism can be utilized. They are great, I know because I have had actually two of them for years.

However, today I was reading about soft sided cooler bags a product I have been manufacturing for 10 to 15 years. To say mine is the best is an understatement. Why; because I have something not one other company making this type of product has; LAMILITE!!!

Lamilite is an insulating medium and if you put frozen cold packs with other cold items from the refrigerator; it does not matter what the items are they will stay cold easily for 24 hours or longer.

When you are in a Wiggy Lamilite insulated sleeping bag the Lamilite stifles the movement of the heat so it stays within the sleeping bag. Lamilite does this so well that people stay warm and sleep in Wiggy’s bags. However, when you place frozen ice packets in a Wiggy’s Cooler bag the cold does not move the way warm air does, it settles and ultimately cools whatever is near the source of cooling.

When I first made these cooler bags I tested them by putting dozen soft drinks in a bag with two 8 ounce ice packs. I included a thermometer and found after 24 or 36 hours the temperature of the drinks increased from 34 to 38 degrees F. The bag was left on a table where the room temperature was about 70 degrees F.

The problem with all of these companies that are now venturing into making soft sided insulated cooler bags is their lack of insulation knowledge. They are using uniform layers of basically stiff foam which helps to shape the container. These stiff forms of insulation are very poor retainers of the cold.

I am quite sure the way Lamilite works to keep heat in a sleeping bag or parka is no different than its ability to work to keep the cold in the cooler bag.

Other benefits are its indestructibility and if it gets dirty, right in the washing machine.

They will last for years.

See them on the web site.
