MORE POSITIVES ABOUT THE LAMILITE SOCKS
Jerry,
After reading several reviews I purchased the Lamilite socks to use while snowshoeing. I usually wear wool socks with a silk liner. However my toes and feet would still get cold. So I thought I would give your socks a try. I must say I was not disappointed. My feet felt warm start to finish. Amazing product!
Thank you
Brian
Wool and silk socks are guaranteed to keep your toes and feet cold. Brian lives in the New England area so he is experiencing a colder than normal winter. His report of his use of my product is always good to hear. So thank you Brian.
As I have stated wool and silk just like cotton WILL absorb moisture and the heat necessary to dry the moisture is far greater than what the human body is capable of producing. When you are snowshoeing the ground i.e. snow is cold and the cold surrounding your feet does penetrate into the footwear via conduction and the moisture surrounding your feet will cool very quickly and that moisture will then do what moisture does best; IT ABSORBS THE HEAT FROM YOUR FEET. The end result is cold feet; toes and all.
The Lamilite socks are made from pure finish (meaning nylon that is not adulterated with any chemicals that can clog the spaces between the yarns) nylon surrounding the Lamilite insulation. As Brian discovered his feet were warm because they were dry and all of the moisture that his feet were giving off migrated through the socks. His feet did not produce less moisture rather the moisture was able to move away from the skin surface of his feet.
I have noted that Rocky shoe company is selling goretex socks and they claim they are and I quote;” They have been lined with GORE-TEX® fabric, which guarantees that you will be wearing highly breathable and waterproof socks.” What Rocky does not have on their web site are any testimonials that state the wearer had warm feet when wearing these socks. There is good reason that no one has written such a testimonial, because you will not have warm feet in a cold situation, maybe in Key West they will be warm but they will also be wet. I wrote some time ago that I purchased a pair of very thick soled shoes made by Rocky that had goretex in them. I liked the thick sole since I was working on a concrete floor this was in the mid 1980’s when I was still in S.C. At the end of day one my feet exhibited an odor I never experienced before. So I bought odor eaters and wore the shoes off and on for about 6 months and then threw them away. One experience was enough for me however that is not the same for many who chose to continue to buy goretex lined boots. That is good for the odor eater footwear manufacturer, so they too do not want to see goretex and the rest of the garbage not sold any more. At one time I wrote about all the drug companies that make remedies for foot sores, generally caused by goretex lined footwear that does keep in the moisture that is a wonderful breeding ground for fungus who also have had a 40 year surge in sales because of ALL the waterproof breathable garbage sold that is in my opinion as it is the opinion of the U.S. Marine Corps who did a study about retention of moisture in footwear that it is the basic cause of foot sores.
As we can see other industries benefit from the advent of waterproof breathable garbage all at the expense of the consumer.
Will the waterproof breathable product come off of the market anytime soon; NO. Why because the sellers of this garbage go by the philosophy of P.T. Barnum who said “there is a sucker is born every minute!”
The moral of this essay is; if you want warm feet free of a fungus atmosphere then you want Lamilite socks!
