SUPER MITTENS

I do not recall ever talking much about our line of mitten. I received the following testimonials and thought I would copy them into this newsletter.

Warm is an understatement - but size down if in doubt

Purchased these as a super warm mitten for winter hiking in NH's White Mountains.

I have worn these on summits with 10 below 0 F windchill, and my hands and forearms were the WARMEST part of my body, no question, almost to the point of palms sweating. I absolutely would trust these in the coldest, harshest temperatures.

Construction seems durable, stitching looks solid, and water readily beads off the nylon shell. The nose wipe is a little 'flat', mostly just a piece of felt. But it does work for the intended purpose.

These are absolutely GIANT mitts, (the oven mitt/boxing glove comparison is accurate), but are incredibly lightweight, as if they were filled with down.

Sizing - I usually run a Medium, or sometimes even Large in mittens. I purchased a Small here and still were almost too big for my hands. (5'9", 160 lbs. male).

Overall, if you are looking for the absolute warmest mitten AND an incredibly light weight, this is your winner. 5 stars so far

Finally

I've tried every conceivable combination of leather, wool, canvas, gore nonsense, and poofy fillers over the years. These are it - the mitts I've been looking for. Lamilite is remarkable stuff for warmth and moisture management, the latter being where everything else has failed. Quickly warm, comfortable from well below 0 to well above, and my hands don't get clammy or cold. I might pick up another pair of lighter weight one’s next year as these look like the love child of boxing gloves and oven mitts, but I'm not much concerned about being fashion forward. These are the mittens I've been trying to find for decades. Glad I finally did.

Now that you have read these testimonials I will add some technical information.

All of the mittens have the famous Lamilite insulation L-12 except the Renegades that have the L-6.

Many years ago, a single person boat that he used for shrimping on coastal S.C. during the winter months had freezing hands. He wore gloves pulling up his nets and they were soaked.  Even though the water temperature was about 60 degrees I believe. He bought a pair of Sierra mittens. They have a high gauntlet that is not insulated as is the Super mittens. He told me even though they were soaked his hands were never cold.

One more time the Lamilite insulation performed as no other insulation is capable.

The Kodiak mittens are a copy of the Grando [no longer in business] boxing glove style mitten [when I started making the Lamilite I sold them thousands of yards of to make their mitten].

It was then the best-selling ski mitten in the market. The Kodiak I used when I was still an active skier. You will never again have cold hands as you do with the most expensive ski glove you can find.

Not one company that I know that makes insulated handwear uses Climashield because their products are made in Asia.

These companies tell a good story but do not have a product to back them up.

If the product is not insulated with Lamilite you freeze.
