THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL
This time of year, hikers take hiking the Appalachian Trail. It is in length from GA. to ME.
When I lived in S.C. and when on the trail, I learned something about it, it is wet. The lushness of all of what grows in these forests keeps the forest floor moist. That moisture resonates into the atmosphere leading to you becoming wet. Also, if you wear clothing that is moisture absorbing; cotton, wool, acetate, etc. they become wet. All of this can lead to being uncomfortable particularly at night.
If the sleeping bag you are using is down filled the down becomes a magnet for the moisture and you will be uncomfortable and probably not sleep. If you have light weight Chinese made bags, they will have chopped staple fiberfill and will retain the moisture from your body so, again you will probably not sleep.
However, if you have a Wiggy bag the moisture problem does not exist. Even though you are most likely wet when you get into your Wiggy bag you will experience feeling warmth from your body that the Lamilite has trapped in the sleeping bag and it will take until the morning when you wake up to realize that you are dry. If you have taken your clothing into the sleeping bag with you, you will find they too are dry. This action has occurred over a period of several thousand customers. If you take the time to read the long list of testimonials on the Wiggy website, you will find the most often commented is “I went to sleep wet and awakened dry.”
I have never been on the Pacific Crest Trail but I am sure there is similar conditions.
Hikers who go out for extended periods of time should know moisture follows you wherever you go and a sleeping bag that eliminates your need to worry about it not being affected by moisture but will also help you to stay dry is without saying the most important item you take on tour travels. Only Wiggy bags offer this extra ordinary affect since it solves the moisture problem.
THE FREEDOM SHELTER SLEEPING BAGS
In the 1980’s when I was working with Dick Haslip owner if Ecotat Company he designed the sleeping bag we called the ‘Freedom shelter sleeping bag” so it could coordinate use with the freedom shelter. As time has gone by, I stopped making the freedom shelter but never stopped making the Freedom Shelter Sleeping Bag.
We make two models one a 0-degree Super Light [national stock number 8425-01-417-4001] and two the 40-degree summer weight bag [national stock number 8415-01-416-6216]. I have included the national stock numbers for the sake of military people wanting to buy on, so they know they are legal to use.
These sleeping bags can easily become insulated ponchos. They have an opening in the middle of the center seam you can put your head through. Because of the capability you may find you need to carry less clothing.
They are available on the web site to purchase.
