THE EFFICIENCY OF THE L-6 LAMILITE/CLIMASHIELD INSULATION

Jerry

I'm traveling in the US right now, on my way back to Korea. My base garments for outside were the Lamilite vest and the Barren Grounds parka- I also used the Lamilite socks for some wet ground use in a shooting class in Ohio. Not freezing weather but that mushy region right above freezing. My feet got wet. They didn't get cold. The parka alone over a long sleeve GI wool shirt was more than sufficient.

I wore the parka over the vest and over a sweatshirt for a hike. Didn't need the fishnets but had I been stationary they would have been gold.

I have an old night desert parka from Desert Shield/Storm I can wear on the outside of the Barren Grounds parka if I find myself heading through heavy brush to keep from snagging the Barren Grounds parka.

Getting ready to board my plane back to Korea in about 30 minutes, and I have both the parka stuffed into a bag for a pillow and I have the vest on over my wooly pully sweater. That vest turns any jacket or coat into a serious piece of cold weather gear.

My old 1st Sgt I visited really liked the poncho liner I bought from you when I was in Iraq 15 years ago... so I gave it to him. That wasn't easy!

Hope all is well in Colorado.

- Mark

As you can see Mark is a long-time customer. I believe I have published other letters of testimonial from him in the past. I have no idea how many different products he has purchased from me, but I would like to have 1 million more like him.

Grand Junction winter has been starting each day about 12 degrees and going to the high 20’s for most of this winter. I have been wearing my Barron Grounds parka which has the L-6 Lamilite insulation and most of the time it is half open. I see many people walking around in their small quilted parkas that in virtually all cases are form fitting and closed to the neckline. These garments are quilted with either a very poor quality down or an equally poor-quality polyester fiberfill. How do I know that, it is easy for me to know that, since the down need not be very lofty as you are accustom to seeing down parkas they can use the smallest waste down available and as for the polyester fiberfill what is made in Asia principally China is what we would call seconds or thirds in the USA and again it is the least lofty product that can be made because it too like the down has no reason to be lofty since it can’t loft up due to the small size of the area allowed in the quilting.

The end result is simple “no loft no heat retention”. Is it any wonder why people wearing these jackets do not open the zippers when they go into a heated building, of course not, because they are cold! I see it all the time and of course my Barron Grounds parka is completely open to allow all of the excess heat out. I stay comfortable while those with these thinly quilted jackets that cost as much or more than my made in America with first quality material and in particular the finest insulation in the world; LAMILITE/CLIMASHIELD!!!

A testament to the efficiency of the Lamilite/Climashield was the test gone wrong by the U.S. Air Force in the cold chamber at Eielson AFB, Alaska. They tested as I wrote the survival kit that is made with the L-6 Lamilite/Climashield for -40 degrees F and low and behold the thermometers were wrong, it was -65 degrees F and the testers were in the cold chamber for 5 hours.

Would someone please demonstrate to me their form of insulation that is as efficient! I do not now or in the future expect any one or company to step to the plate with a product EVER!!!

There are some things I have said in the past, say today and will say tomorrow; goretex did not work when bobby and bill gore thought they discovered something, it does not work today and will not work tomorrow! Continuous filament fiberfill now known as Climashield and I call my use of it Lamilite worked better than all other forms of insulation the day it was made, it works better than all other forms of insulation today and will work better than all other forms of insulation that will come along in the future; and what I have just said are two facts that cannot be changed, goretex does not work and Lamilite/Climashield does work.

TARIFF RULES

The 2016 law the American Manufacturing and Competitiveness Act allow companies to petition for temporary tariff reductions or suspensions on goods they import and for which they believe no production in the USA exists. Apparently, gore does not think Wiggy’s is a manufacturer of hunting apparel. Seems the hunters that buy Wiggy’s products do not exist. They at gore do not think there are companies in the USA like Wiggy’s do not make hunting apparel.

They at gore state in their petition that we who make hunting apparel and actually sell our apparel to hunters do not exist.

They at gore are so full of them selves that do not think any companies exist if they do not buy goretex. Years ago, some women at gore bought I think two of my sleeping bags. Maybe they have purchase one or more of my Ducksback jackets so they can test them in their $15 million laboratory so they can find out what works a very water resistant as well as vapor permeable too.

The representative also told me she believes that gore also owns simms. I have read they have some form of partnership, whether that means gore owns them I do not know but it would not surprise me. They at gore have wanted to be a seller of finished product for years. So, they are buying their customers, possibly.

Of course, the petition from gore deals with three ply goretex laminate of camo material for hunters. It is as if all hunters who buy camo garments or hunting apparel in general must buy goretex garments and they are not made in the USA, so they have no choice but to get Chinese made goretex garments I agree they are not made in the USA, but I do believe since I sell garments to hunters that goretex garments are not the only garments sold to hunters. Unfortunately, hunters do buy goretex garments and then find out firsthand that they do not work as advertised.

Gore is drawing at straws stating to the International Trade Commission that hunters would not be able to buy these garments if the prices were increased by the tariff. That in my opinion would be a great situation. Imagine if all of the companies getting goretex garments made in China walk because the prices are to high. That would mean the hunters would be saving their money not buying these non-functioning garments because they are not in the stores.

I think the gore company believes they can do anything they please, it isn’t so.
