ANOTHER CUSTOMER RECOGNIZING THE QUALITY OF THE ZIPPER

Hi Jerry

One thing I didn't fully appreciate when I first bought your sleeping bags mumble, mumble years ago were some of the features or component selections. Coil type zippers for example are ubiquitous in hiking and camping gear, and they pretty much "Suck" as the kids say. The large tooth zippers used in Wiggy's products might seem to the uninitiated as a step down in quality. They are not. [The number 10 molded tooth zippers; JW].

Another interesting feature, I assume (and probably rightly so) that sewing a sleeping bag takes skill and experience. I will say that at first glance the complete lack of any baffles struck me as a bit strange. Aren't they necessary to keep the insulation from moving around? The luxury of sleeping warm in miserable conditions soon led me to believe maybe that cranky OB out in Colo. knew what the hell he was doing!! LOL.

What I'm getting at, some of the competitor gear "looks" nicer than a Wiggy's bag, it is important to impress upon outdoor users that fashion doesn't keep us warm and dry. I appreciate that the Wiggys bags are conservatively or realistic in temperature ratings. A lot of jiggery-pokery in that regard by the "usual suspects." Thanks for the update!

Ted Peterson

Ted thank you for pointing out things that you have observed and learned about your Wiggy’s products and writing to me so I could share them with new readers who have an interest in purchasing Wiggy’s products.

If telling the truth via my articles or on the phone to potential customers makes me a “cranky OB” I guess I can live with the reference, it is part of my character.

The other day I received a note from a customer commenting about the vapor permeability of our bags and today Ted refers to the zippers we use. It is gratifying to hear from customers who recognize the quality components we use.

I wonder how many people if any have the same thing to say about say western mountaineering considered the best down bag maker in the country. Actually, as far as I am told their shells are made in China, not that it matters. Vapor never gets out of their bags because it is absorbed by the down and their coil zippers do break like those used by all the other companies that claim to make sleeping bags.

I am elated by the number of people who have over the past 34 years taken the time to write to me and the frequency about their successful use of my products primarily the sleeping bags.

I am appalled by the amount of non-sensical erroneous information that has flowed for years from so many companies serving the consumers who endeavor to go into the out of doors; gore being the biggest of liars. But this is the way things are today and/or have been for years in the out door industry.
