More Information About Ducksback + NEW Ducksback Facemask

Posted by

Thanks to the material's micro-gutter structure (photo), tiny convex bulges reduce horizontal surface tension to enable raindrops to slip smoothly off the surface in a vertical direction. DUCKSBACK also has high moisture permeability due to its non-laminated structure, so it allows sweat vapor to escape, keeping the inner surface dry and pleasant to touch.

The above explanation is the reason why the Ducksback material works so well at shedding water, it really is like water running down a ducksback.

The way the yarns used to weave the fabric are bulky and as such when the fabric goes through the dying and finishing process there is always a small amount of shrinkage which causes the yarns to bulk up. Since the fabric is not flat as normal woven nylon it is not smooth. The hand or feel of the fabric is also much softer than nylon.

I have discussed with Kok manufacturing face masks with the Ducksback fabric. While it will give you protection from the rain over your mouth and nose the fabric will surely offer more protection from germs of all sorts to include coronavirus. I am now wearing the first one he made, actually Pum made it for me.

The Ducksback face masks are on the web site for ordering. The cost is $20.00 each.

The combination of Ducksback and Lamilite/Climashield are two products not available from any other company.

After 50 years of hearing gore make their outlandish claim, we now know the only way to have a water resistant fabric is to make one the way the Ducksback is made. All gore ever did was laminate to their film to a flat nylon fabric and that is all the copycats do. This explains why it never worked to be water resistant beyond when the water repellency broke down and washed away. The vapor permeability never worked because of the adhesive necessary to hold the two or three materials together.

Maybe one day a major number of consumers will have learned why if you want a parka that is truly water resistant and vapor permeable they, will grace me with their business.
