NARCISSISM
“Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism.
A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial matters. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed when they're not given the special favors or admiration that they believe they deserve. They may find their relationships troubled and unfulfilling, and other people may not enjoy being around them.
Narcissistic personality disorder affects more males than females, and it often begins in the teens or early adulthood. Some children may show traits of narcissism, but this is often typical for their age and doesn't mean they'll go on to develop narcissistic personality disorders.”

I was interested in learning the meaning of the word narcissism for a long time. Since I am relatively immobile these days, I find that I spend more and more time at my computer doing research. I grew up with a small version of the encyclopedia Britanica, which I loved, but it does not hold a candle on the internet. I refer to the internet to make sure what I write is accurate.
Now that I know the meaning of the word narcissism, I understand why many journalists say this politician or that politician is a narcissist. I can now relate to why they say it. If more people knew the meaning it may very well help them to make better choices about who they vote for.
I suspect that many of us have grown up with relatives or friends who are narcissists, but we never associated the word with how they acted.
If a politician has been elected and during their term they exhibit many of these traits and at the end of their term, they run for reelection you know not to vote for them. We might have a greater turnover of office holders.
As I have gotten old, I have thought that each election whoever holds the position should be voted out and not allowed to run again for the office.
Maybe the younger generation will become wiser and make better choices about government employees.
My opinion.
