GETTING OLD IS NOT FOR WIMPS

In recent years I have shared some of the ailments I have been experiencing. Now I have a new ailment with so far, a reasonably good outcome.

I have been dealing with the shingles since July 2019 and I expect since it is on my forehead, I will probably have it the rest of my life. Apparently, the worst place to get them.

About 3 months ago I awoke one morning and got on my treadmill and had very significant pain in my left knee. As the day went on it dissipated. I went through this scenario for over a week, so I decided to go to an orthopedic surgeon. I said let’s get a new knee. He said after reviewing the x-rays what I had was inoperable, but he could give a cortisone injection. I said great, but it did nothing so a week later I was back to see him again. This time he said I would have a PRP process.

Plasma-Rich Platelets (PRP) is what is done.

They take some of your blood and put it in a centrifuge which separates the plasma which is then injected into your knee. Its purpose is to reduce inflammation and promote regeneration of the cartilage.

I had the procedure on Monday and had no discomfort on Tuesday until I got on my stationary bike. That lasted 5 minutes. On Wednesday I did not get on the bike and had zero discomfort. The same holds true for today. I will leave the exercise on hold for a week or so and then go to it slowly.

What I am finding is that as I have been aging there are less and less physical activities, I am involved in, so I get pains here and there in my body that never appeared before. I know that I am not alone in going through this experience.

I also recognize there is a way of avoiding all of these aging discomforts; die young.

OREGANO OIL

Several years ago, a customer called and while we were talking, he asked if I had a cold because I was coughing a lot. Answer was yes. He told me to go to a health food store and get a small bottle of oregano oil and take a couple of drops right into my mouth. He said it would sort of burn, but the oregano oil will kill the bad germs and leave all else healthy. He cited, a government study about this. In two days, the cold was gone.

I have told many about the benefit of the oregano oil for this purpose. About 2 weeks ago I told a friend who bought a bottle and took 2 or 3 drops and thought he was going to die. It does not bother me since I know what it tastes like. Anyway, he did some research and the suggestion is to put the drops on olive oil about a teaspoon full. He felt better swallowing it this way and in 2 days his cold was gone.

He suggested it might be good for the shingles I am living with, so I went on the research path. What I found was an enormous amount of information on the benefits of oregano oil with respect to cancer. If you do not have cancer take it as a preventative, if you do then it helps in many ways including helping chemo chemical. So far, I have no idea if it helps to cause the shingles I have to heal.

I take gelatin capsules each morning and rub the oil missed with olive oil on my forehead. If it works, it is a slow process. I like to think I will outlive the shingles as it will be nice to have it gone before I die.
