For all the years that I have been in business, I have learned to pay attention to the economy. I have seen many times over the years in the past how it has fluctuated from good to bad. Generally, the process has lasted 6 to 8 months.

We are now in the beginning of a bad economy, in my opinion. I do not believe it will last as little as 8 months.

Therefore, I have decided to do the opposite of the many companies that are subject to paying increased taxes on the goods they are importing. Some retailers are showing the increase because they import directly. From what I have read, companies that are known as manufacturers [even though they buy from contractors in foreign countries] are building the tax cost increases into the wholesale prices. Therefore, the retail stores they sell to will not show the cost differences.

This situation I believe will impact on the purchasing of products by consumers.

I have also been paying attention to the number of people who have lost their jobs because the companies they have worked for have seen a drop in orders and had to lay them off. There is no telling how often this has taken place.

Another reason why the economy is taking a hit.

I am fortunate that I have been able to buy domestic materials. They are sitting in two warehouses on my property that I draw from as I need goods for production.

When I bought these goods, I paid very favorable prices, so I have been able to keep my prices low. Now I have decided to do just the opposite of the companies that are importers who must raise their prices, so the consumer ultimately pays the tariff [tax] increase.
