ANOTHER WET WIGGY SLEEPING BAG EXPERIENCE

I have owned a Wiggy's bag for over a decade and can tell you it is the best bag for any adventure, I even backpacked with it. While on a 2017 sheep hunt in the Yukon one of our pack horses tipped over in a slough and soaked everything in the panniers before we got him out. In those panniers was my Wiggys bag and the wrangler's down bag. Once to our camp spot that evening I tried drying the bag with a fire and it did help but it was still wet, but it had loft compared to the down bag. I knew the Lamilite filling is supposed to keep you warm when wet, so I put it to the test. That night I got in my bag with just skivvies on and yes it sucked, for about 20 secs. It went from clammy and wet to warm. I slept through the night and woke to a dry bag. Unreal!!! The wrangler did not sleep much that night, if any, and spent most of the next day trying to dry his down bag out. Since that night when I have wet clothes on a hunt, I simply put them in the bottom of my bag, and they are dry by morning. The Wiggys is the real deal, no other way to put it. If you are going to use synthetic fill, choose nothing but Wiggys. The little extra weight and size when packing around is worth it!!!

It has been a while since I received a testimonial from someone having the experience of having to sleep in his Wiggy bag when it was wet.

I have received many but none where a packhorse tripped and fell in the drink. Having hunted for years on horseback with packed animals this experience I never had. I can’t imagine helping to move a 1500-pound animal out of the water.

Now for his experience. Kevin has been reading newsletters for years about Wiggy bags keeping people warm and drying from their body heat as he experienced. I also appreciate his inclusion of what happened to the down bag. this is an unusual experience, but it matters not because the down absorbs moisture from the person sleeping in the down bag and it does diminish the thickness of the bag daily.

If one was to look through the number of testimonials I have received since 1997 and counted the number of reasons for then the number one is how well the bags have performed when they were wet.  The users of these wet bags experienced their bags drying as Kevin did.

I probably said this before, how gratifying it is to hear from customers specifically about this performance of the bags when wet. It is an attribute of the bags that I was unaware of when I started making them.

The reason for this action happening is the Lamilite, otherwise known as continuous filament fiberfill [Climashield]

Over the years I have been making these sleeping bags and receiving these testimonials I wonder why people buy the other brands of the no sleep sleeping bags because they do get wet and do not dry very quickly and in the case of down bags they do not dry at all until you get home and put them in a dryer.

This is but one reason to purchase a Wiggy bag and it could be the most important because if your sleeping bag gets wet and it doesn’t dry it would mean an uncomfortable situation and possibly more than just uncomfortable possibly your life.

The state of Alaska has a cold environment, but it is also very moist and over the last 40 years Wiggy’s bags have gained a reputation for being the best sleeping bag and most often purchased by Alaskans. The users have not only told me how well they perform at keeping them warm in arctic conditions but how dry they are in the bags, a testament to the vapor permeability of the Lamilite and nylon we use.

Of course, the Alaskans have learned to trust their Wiggy bags in the most adverse conditions they experience in Alaska. Wiggy’s bags are far and away from the sleeping bag most often purchased by Alaskans.

Kevin thank you for sharing your experience and giving me a chance to share it with
