TESTIMONIALS

This weekend out of curiosity I decided to research testimonials about gore-tex products. After all the gore-tex ptfe film has been used for jackets and foot wear primarily for 40 years and I thought; silly me; that there would be a host of testimonials available to read on the internet.

I have been receiving testimonials since about 1993 or 4 but I haven’t had them on my web site until sometime in the new century. Prior to 2000 I have received probably 500 to 1000 of them.

What I found in my research was basically ads from rei, ll bean, several companies that manufacture gore-tex products and several other retailers of the gore-tex products they sell. I found reviews by people who have worked for magazines such as backpacker or outside and now have their own companies giving advice to would be outdoors people. They review the different brands and always elude they work, some better than others. They don’t actually say I was in heavy rain and I was sweating and the sweat got out of the garment.

What I do know are there are people like this fellow Skurka who has reviewed garments and footwear explaining that the gore-tex products he purchased did not work and caused him problems especially with his feet. I have heard from many customers and I have readily published their negative comments about the gore-tex products they too have purchased.

I even called the gore company and asked to be directed to the area of their web site that published reviews, no such luck since it does not exist. I was directed to the half-assed explanation.

When I consider the economic success of this product of the gore company for all these years I am astounded that nobody thinks enough of their product to write a positive testimonial, and the only reason testimonials do not exist is because the product does not work, so there is nothing good that can be said about it. That is unless you are a retailer like rei or ll bean wanting to sell the garments you have invested in.
