COPYING WIGGY’S
Mountain Hardwear a number of years ago decided to make “no sleep sleeping bags” and call them lamina. Why lamina because that was as close as they could get to Lamilite according to Paul Kramer the partner of the company at that time. He and his partner eventually sold out to Columbia Sportswear.
They did start out with continuous filament fiber in the so-called sleeping bags but it was a disaster. After the company was sold to Columbia Sportswear, they reinvigorated the lamina line of sleeping bags only this time they used as their insulation a chopped staple fiberfill product. the cheapest chopped staple fiberfill known to mankind made in China.
I do not know if the line of bags is trade named lamina or the insulation is known as lamina, however it matters not.
What I would like to know is if they are prepared to or intend to give a demonstration of their “no sleep sleeping bags” ability to self-extinguish? I doubt it. I would like to see the snugpak company do the same thing with their “no sleep sleeping bags” as well. They sell lots of bags to our military and our military is always looking for sleeping bags and other products that are flame retardant or self-extinguishing.
So much for companies copying Wiggy’s, but duplicating is not possible.
