warming and cooling?

Warming and cooling tech company launches new business model

“LifeLabs, a high-tech textile brand originally launched by Professor Yi Cui and Sophia Ou, of Stanford University

WarmLife is a patented infrared-reflective textile that helps the body retain its natural heat. The technology is based on a nano-metallic surface treatment, applied in dots, to allow breathability and comfort. “It is tuned to reflect infrared radiation in a specific spectrum of wavelengths, so that it only reflects heat when needed,” said Mr Wang. It is thus not quite the same as Columbia Sportswear’s Omni-Heat. LifeLab’s technology was originally developed to protect satellite batteries from the deep cold of outerspace. It won an ispo award last year.

CoolLife is described as another game-changing technology that is based on an infrared-transparent fibre that releases the body’s natural heat to keep wearers cooler and more comfortable in warm conditions. It is said to provide a continuous cooling effect. The yarn that delivers this useful function is a special nano-polyethylene yarn. As a 100% polyethylene fabric is not too comfortable to wear, CoolLife fabrics are made from blends, with a minimum content of 20% polyethylene. “The more the polyethylene, the more cooling,” said Mr Wang.”

I am forever amazed when reading about the newest inventions of fabrics that can heat the human body and or cool the human body. But professors Yi Cui and Sophia Ou must have extraordinary knowledge in the area of how the human body works as well as knowledge of materials to cover it.

Of course, they never claim the temperatures that the materials made with their materials perform in. What they do not know is that the infrared radiant heat produced by the human body moves away from it and does not return via any reflective method. Differentiating between wave lengths is simple bull s**t.   they do have away with words. I wonder what knowledge mr. wang has of insulation.

Actually, these people noted have no knowledge of insulation. They believe their combination of components acts in a certain manner in and of itself. They are leaving out the one component that would assist their material to work and that is the Lamilite insulation. Without it the material in and of itself will do nothing, except hasten freezing if you wear a garment made with this fabric that was not insulated.

Starting the technology was developed to protect batteries from the deep cold of outer space does not mean it will work on earth. The warm life process is not capable of functioning as claimed.

The only thing I found in the discussion about coollife is contradiction.  In one sentence mr. wang states “that 100 % polyethene is not too comfortable to wear. He then goes on to say the more polyethene, the more the cooling.” This tells me he has no knowledge of the subject field altogether.

The continued search for new ways to insulate the human body as well as ways to help it get cool tells me the seekers of this knowledge have no knowledge of how the human body works.

The following information is for yi cui., Sophia ou and mr. wang.

To keep a person warm you have to put successive layers of clothing on starting with fishnet underwear and then several layers of insulated item using materials and insulation that does not inhibit the flow of moisture out of the garments. The layering depends upon the temperature you are endeavoring to go into.

To stay cool wear a cotton shirt, never any synthetic.
