RESPONSE TO LAST NIGHTS ARTICLE

The following comment was sent to me after this person read last night’s article. It certainly rings true.

“As a government employee for over 32 years, one thing I have learned well.

The US government will save money no matter how much it costs.

Thanks for all that you do and the wonderful equipment that you make”.

A friend of mine wrote that all that was needed were the Wiggy’s Antarctic Extreme mittens with a pair of leather gloves, my response to Marty was that I told them that two or three months ago when I saw the original solicitation. But they never responded to my suggestion which is what I expected.

The following testimonial was received this morning.

Not bad.

Purchased these last year. Used during several winter backpacking trips. They really could use a cinch strap across the back of the hand to prevent them from sliding down. They also soak through very quickly when working in snow. However, thanks to the excellent lining your hands stay warm with temps above 20 degrees Fahrenheit even when the linings are wet.

So far I have not heard of a problem with the mitts sliding off. What is very important is the fact that his hands stayed warm when the lining i.e. insulation was wet. This aspect of the Lamilite insulation as mitten insulation I have known for probably 50 years. Try educating those wanting cold weather mittens for the military; it is not going to happen. They refuse to accept factual knowledge such as Lamilite/Climashield works the same wet or dry and no other form of insulation does, ever had or ever will. Lamilite/Climashield stands alone as the finest most efficient insulation used in consumer products such as sleeping bags, parkas, footwear and MITTENS that exists.

Speaking of mittens last year we had a banner year selling them however some people were disappointed because we were unable to ship their orders on time since we were overwhelmed with orders. So, if you are interested in getting a pair particularly the Antarctic Extreme model which was to my surprise sold very well, actually way beyond any expectations if I had any which I did not, so please consider ordering early. Also if the chart says you should order a large order a medium as they are cut big to allow for the insulation to expand fully. If the size is not correct when you receive them they can be exchanged.

VACUUM PACKING SLEEPING BAGS

Wiggy’s has been the sole company vacuum packing sleeping bags in survival kits for the U.S. Air Force since the early 1990’s. Once I advertised that you the consumer could vacuum pack sleeping bags for your bug out bags or kept in a vehicle or aircraft for emergency use.

The hold back was cost, so I am now able to do the vacuum packing for a lower cost. If interested you can call and we can give you the sizes of the molds we have. The new cost is $135.00. Keep in mind that once you break the bag out of the double blister packaging it cannot be put back. We place the vacuum packed bag in stuff sack to protect the blister packaging and if you do need to use the bag you now have a stuff sack to put it in.

The need for survival equipment is a growing concern of numerous of our citizens and it is not a new concern. When I consider I was born at the outset of the USA getting into WW11 and then I grew up seeing all of the prosperity that took place once the war ended in retrospect I was happy to be in the USA. When I see what is going on today I realize that the country I was privileged to be born in (I am second generation from Russia) does not exist any longer.

I lived in Manhattan from 1963 till I moved on to my boat in 1974 and when I think back to those years they were when N.Y.C. was at its best.

I am truly sorry to end the article on such a sad note.
