EMBELLISHING
Embellishing...make (a statement or story) more interesting or entertaining by adding extra details, especially ones that are not true.
Unlike other companies who Over-Embellish their products, you are guilty of Under-Embellishment...prime examples are your "Sweater" and Nomex "Shirt jack".
I've been wearing one of your Sweaters since 1999. It has been worn almost exclusively from September to March and washed at least 10 times... It is NOT a SWEATER. One cannot go out walking in just a sweater at 10* and not get cold...I've been out at 0* in the "Sweater" and not been cold. One can wear a sweater in the house...I can't wear your Sweater snow blowing the driveway when it's in the 20s unless the wind is blowing. What this is a perfect copy of is the USAF Bomber Jacket...except much warmer. I wore one all through High School and your insulation makes it so much warmer... I've also worn it is the pouring rain trying to get cold and wet...didn't happen.
...and then there is Shirt jack.... what a joke....
While ordering a Slumber Bag (another story) I saw that the Nomex Shirt jack was on sale...so since it was the same L weight that was in the Sweater, I bought one... Now I have several "shirt jacks", from a single layer wool 50-year-old Woolrich to a few cotton/flannel lined plain old shirt jacket.... Your Shirt jack is not a shirt jack...
A standard shirt jack doesn't have much more insulating value than a sweater. Your Shirt jack is much more like an Arctic Coat. Put it on to blow snow the other day when it was in the low 20s....didn't last 3 minutes before I was over heated. All I used for the rest of the time was your Vest. Last night it was 17*...walked around the block totally warm...this morning it was -2*, went back out in total comfort. This thing is nuts for what it weighs....
Anyway, I am putting forth a recommendation to the Guinness Book of World Records that Wiggy's be recognized was the company who most Under-Embellishes their products...
Always,
Bob
Bob is a friend of mine and has been a custom of Wiggy’s for probably 30 or more years. I do not know how many Wiggy products he owns, but it is a lot. He has been instrumental in getting me numerous customers during these years. He has sent me short notes praising my products, some of which I may have published.
This latest email letter I am very grateful to have received, and I know it needs publishing.
If there is a category recognized for “under embellishing” I am happy to be listed.
Bob,
Many thanks for all you have said.
Now I will add the history of the SHIRT JACKET was a development of working with a employee of the Conoco Phillips oil company in Alaska. That goes back about 15 years ago. We made dozens of them for their employees. When i shut down selling to Wiggy's Alaska the orders came directly to me. Then that stopped so having the Nomex material I wanted to get rid of it so i dropped the price to $140.00 and I have bene selling many of them. I checked my inventory of black Nomex and i may have enough material to make 50 or 60 more SHIRT JACKETS. For me to get more of the Nomex material I expect the price to double at the least. I am waiting for samples to arrive shortly. I knew it was a good garment when Alaska's started ordering them. However, i will continue to make them with a SUPPLEX shell.
