RESPONSE TO LAST NIGHTS ARTICLE

Wiggy,

This summer I switched to NON-Gore-Tex hiking boots.

My prior Gore-Tex waterproof boots required me to change my socks 3 times daily to keep my feet dry, due to wet socks, in dry summer weather.

With the non-waterproof boots, my feet were dry.

What the heck?!!

I just ordered a pair of your leather boots. Excited to try them out. Too bad that this may be the only pair I'll ever own.

Thanks,

Bob Paretti

Thank you Bob for expressing your experience with goretex lined boots.

I am very appreciative of people like Bob sharing his experience but I also think it would be a very good thing to do to tell the store keeper where the boots were purchased, the manufacturer of the boots and finally a personal letter to Bobby Gore. If enough people actually take the time to tell all of these companies their unfortunate experience and further that they will never buy any footwear with a lining material goretex or the like again maybe the manufacturer and retailer will actually wake up and move away from materials that are falsely represented to them.

Note that Bob had dry feet while wearing some other brand of boot that did not have a film in it. So as I have suspected all along it does not matter if you own a Wiggy boot so long as the boot is not lined with a film it does work the same. For insulation the Lamilite socks as well as over boots or mukluks depending upon the severity of the cold.

Thermo Rogue

I read about this boot being worn by two people who walked across Greenland wearing them. Since these boots have goretex in them there is no way for the foot generated moisture to get out. In addition they are putting primaloft mixed with aerogel in the boots, another disaster in the making. These two were GIVEN the boots so they can't say they are bad.

I actually called Merrell the maker of the boots and told them in my opinion they were offering a boot based upon erroneous information and I did tell the woman I spoke with exactly who I am. She said she would pass my comments on and asked then if she could do anything else. I told her passing my comments on to whoever was quite enough, and then she thanked me for calling Merrell, amazing response. These people have no backbone; period. They are above being criticized. However, that response is no different than I have received from other companies I have told sell bogus footwear, so I was not surprised.

I further suggested that she go to my web site and read ALL of what I have written about goretex, etc.

The v.p. of product development is quoted in the article; will he be the one she goes to?

IF I get a call from him I’ll let you know.
