what does not occur in the outdoor industry "thinking"

PREMADE UPPERS FOR FOOTWEAR & A LACK OF THINKING

Last week I read an article in one of the online magazines that cater to the outdoor industry and the article dealt with the gore company now making uppers for footwear that companies that either sell footwear or want to sell footwear that they can buy from gore. They of course would then have to put bottoms on them. It would probably be done at the same factory.

Of course gore is putting their film inside the upper and now the wanabe shoe company’s do not have to give any concern about creating a shoe. The responsibility of creating the shoe is totally on gore who thinks it is great because they are developing a customer by doing all the work for them. Therefore the company that is marketing the shoes does not have any development costs. What they do have is a shoe that does not function the way gore has told them it will. That does not matter because these companies are basically too stupid to even care. One of the companies I recall in the article is Under Armour. They have been having their troubles financially for a while so they are not averse to trying anything.

Under Armour is just one of the many companies that are employing numerous people who were unfortunately educated in government schools so they were NEVER taught to think. This makes them easy marks for the likes of gore. Other companies that have bought into this are Adidas,and Salomon, they to are looking for cutting costs of product development not that this is a good product but they too don't care.

I was thinking that gore must have the “gii” educating school. I imagine it to be something like the “gore indoctrination institute”. The sales staff at gore is very substantial and I find it impossible to believe that all of these employees believe that the goretex materials work as they are advertised, so they must be brain washed someplace along the lines of an institution.

If you work for the gore company and you read this article just remember that moisture coming out of your pores just like me and all other living breathing humans is WATER, it is not a vapor so the water molecules cannot possible move out of the garment or shoe since the water molecules that fall on the garment from rain can’t get into the garment. Now I ask you how gore has gotten around this natural phenomenon? They haven’t is the answer, I didn’t want you to rack your brain trying to remember if they covered this action in class at the institute.

The lack of thinking in the outdoor industry is monumental in scope. How many companies offer a waterproof breathable product today 200, 400, your guess is as good as mine. The fellow in the employ of Orvis who wrote to me of his personal experience and that tells me that other in the employ of Orvis had to have had the same experience. That would hold true of the many thousands of employees in the employ of companies like ll bean, rei, bass pro/cabelas, and all of the other retailers in existence. “Thinking” is not a part of their ability. Back in the 1981 Leonard Peikoff wrote an article published in the Intellectual Activist an Objectivist publication “Why Johnny can’t Think”! You can find it on line, but as I remember the fault is squarely on government schools and of course a lack of proper philosophic training.

Those who work currently in the outdoor industry as in many others have for the most part been products of government schools so they simply put never have been taught to think.

Such is the education system in the US of A.

If you cannot think you cannot create anything, you have to resort to buying products that others who do think have created. That is why some people like to embellish themselves with fancy titles like “technical designer” as the lackey nathan employed at outdoor research has acquired. What does it mean to be a technical designer? Does it mean you design “technicals” and if so what do you do with them? Must be something like a “widget” or a whatca macallit”.

So gore is taking advantage of this pitiful situation by doing the work in creating a product even though it will not work for these companies.
