INTERESTING REFERENCE TO THE DUCKSBACK FABRIC

Hi Jerry,

A NEW PTFE FILM THAT WORKS? NONSENSE

At our best when conditions are at their worst.

The bi-component Porelle® Extreme membrane found in the Pnuma Selkirk Jacket and Pant Hunting System has set a new bar as the finest waterproof, breathable membrane in the industry. The outer PTFE is a hydrophobic, water-hating layer that keeps wetness out, providing a waterproof rating of more than 20,000. The inner PU component is a hydrophilic, water-loving layer, which draws water vapor from your perspiration through the membrane to the outer layer where it evaporates. With a Moisture Vapor Transfer (MVT) rating of 120,000 Pnuma delivers twice the breathability rating of any other hunting apparel. The bottom line on Porelle Extreme? You stay warmer, drier, and more comfortable no matter how extreme conditions get.

I never heard of this company until I read about them in AMERICAN HUNTER MAGAZINE so I looked them up and what I have read is unmitigated “hocus pocus”. PTFE film regardless that makes it is all the same. So if all of the PTFE films from Gore-Tex and every company that has copied them DOES NOT WORK why do you think this film will work. It will not no matter what the conditions are extreme or otherwise.

The HydroWick™ difference.

HydroWick™ technology is the cornerstone of our IconX hunting base layer. Our proprietary fabric blend with HydroWick is knitted with hollow, porous, hygroscopic fibers. These hollow fibers dramatically improve moisture wicking over traditional fibers. Insulating and cooling properties are significantly increased by trapping or releasing body heat through the air spaces in the fibers. HydroWick fabric features reduced pilling, enhanced stretch, and offers a smooth fabric feel over the athletic design of IconX. It’s a world-class hunting base layer that’s in a class of its own.

HydroWick is not in a class of its own; it has oodles of company in the area of wicking garments that do not work worth a damn. This garment is made from polyester fiber and it is closely knitted so when you sweat ALL of the perspiration coming out of your body stays next to your skin and you get a chill.

The coolest fabric there is.

Coolcore patented cooling technology is the first fabric on the planet to be awarded the Hohenstein Institute’s Innovative Technology Award for cooling. Coolcore’s revolutionary moisture activated fabric uses proprietary and innovative yarn-spun micro-tubing to keep you cool. This incredible fabric wicks sweat away from your skin, then transports it rapidly to accelerate drying. Its unique ability to regulate evaporation works to keep you cooler. Unlike standard wicking treatments, it does this without chemicals, and will not degrade over time. The warmer the environment and the more active you are the more you will perspire. Put sweat to work for you. Stay cool with Coolcore.

One more time I see the hoho institute referenced as some sort of expert; B/S. What COOLCORE is selling is a wish and a prayer. Guaranteed to get chill wearing closely knitted garments that have the coolcore whatever is in it.

Here we have one more company that is run by people who are in my opinion devoid of any real knowledge of the materials available in the textile industry. It is so sad that so many consumers who put the confidence in so many companies get screwed when they make purchases based upon the publicized information that they believe may very well do what the company selling the stuff claims only to find out it was nothing more than a lie.

I hear the same story almost every day now mostly from hunters since it is the hunting season. “I was sweaty and cold” or my feet were cold, need I go on. Reality is that this company represents epitome of charlatans and snake oil salesman.

I really enjoyed reading the two episodes of your life that you sent out. You wrote very candidly and the story was fascinating. BTW I love the Ducksback material. It works like a charm and actually breathes like an animal! JK

Jared’s analogy was a surprise comment. Thank you!

HOT FEET SYNDROME and LAMILITE SOCKS

Burning feet syndrome, also known as Grierson-Gopalan syndrome, is a medical condition that causes severe burning and aching of the feet, hyperesthesia, and vasomotor changes of the feet that lead to excessive sweating. It can even affect the eyes, causing scotoma and amblyopia.

I personally have in the past year been experiencing this malady as well as noting that the padding in the balls of my feet is getting thinner. Both of these maladies are common with people as we age. I am 75 and still in good physical condition but my feet have been carrying my body for 75 years. When younger I was lighter in weight and with a reduction in activity and a need for good food I am happy to be stable although I do try to lose weight, but age makes it somewhat difficult so I stay happy and content.

As for the thin padding all one can do is getting a good orthotic. But for the hot feet there is a fix or as I believe if it works for me it should work for you.

Over the past year I have worn expensive 100 percent wool socks and 100 percent cotton socks without success even when wearing Lamilite lined boots. So I started wearing the Lamilite socks in the Lamilite lined boots and found that my feet were not getting hot. I can only believe the fact that my perspiration was adding to the problem and was now able to get away from the skin surface of my feet so the stayed comfortable. That said I have also worn them with other shoes that are leather lined and not Lamilite lined to realize my feet are staying comfortable as well.

This experience leads me to believe the Lamilite socks are at least solving the hot feet problem that I am experiencing.
