hunting up north

HUNTERS GOING NORTH TO HUNT IN ALASKA

Today I received a call from a hunter going above the arctic circle who needed the waders to begin with. He then questioned getting either the Hunter Antarctic -60 degree bag or the Hunter Ultima Thule – 20 degree bag. His guide stated he needed a bag for – 20 degrees.

I advised him the Hunter Ultima Thule is all he needed. He then asked if -20 was survival temperature. I told him to sleep in it in his underwear and if by chance the temperature dropped to -30, he would not know the difference. All Wiggy’s bags are very much under rated.

Further in our conversation I recommended the Lamilite socks. I said when you dress at home wear them in you boots when you get on the plane and everyday you are hunting. He bought a pair.

I them recommended leg jackets, over boots and liner vests and liner jackets.

If he is going into -20 degree environment [lives in Michigan] he is spending a great deal of money and if he is cold the experience is not fun. I await his call about the product’s I recommended.

Of course, I do not know if he will take advantage of the parka sale but if so, it is the topping on the cake.

I did, I no longer hunt, I was a winter hunter here in Colorado always at 12000 feet so, I know extreme cold. I dressed for it with the products I make and as anyone knows via the story of me getting lost, I survived because of what I was wearing.

I am continually receiving calls from hunters who complain of being cold. The primary reason is COLD FEET. When warm blood gets to your feet that are improperly covered it gets cold and that cold blood returns to your heart and must be reheated. The process takes energy so the body’s reaction is to start to shut down. If you wear wool socks they absorb and retain water and your boots are most likely gortex lined so the water stays in the socks and of course the thinsulate doesn’t insulate. To end the cold feet my over boots are a tried and proven product to keep your feet warm at -30 degrees. Aside from the response of now several dozen customers who have purchased them I used them for 4 years myself so I know how efficient they are to keep feet warm. So, now that your feet are warm the blood returning to your heart is warm so there is no reheating necessary. Do not forget to wear the Lamilite socks in those boots in place of the wool.

The second item on your how to stay warm list is the fishnets. You want your body moisture to get away from you and only the fishnets will allow that to happen. The result of wearing these two products will make your life in the mountains or wherever you are when it is cold much more pleasant.

I have no idea how cold the leg jackets will perform but for me when I was lost the temperature, I experienced was -20 F to wind chill of maybe -50 F.

The point is you are going into the wilderness to have a good time so, why be cold. If you are cold where is the enjoyment?
